Yes, Dark Knight Rises earned an estimated $64 million in its second weekend to retain the top spot at the box office! This comes in spite of two new movies in The Watch and Step Up Revolution!
Despite its continued success, Dark Knight Rises is clearly in the shadows of its predecessor as The Dark Knight earned over $75 million in its second weekend in theatres back in 2008!

| Most definitely one of the best movies of the year. I will be going to watch this again for a second time with some friends. I just wish the movies didn't cost so much for tickets/food. |

I watched it with some buddies last weekend, it really was very good. It was a nice change of pace from the last one.
I seriously doubt the shooting made any significant different in attendance rates. What makes you think it's relevant? |

It's at least going to make a slight change in how much money it makes and it didn't do as well as The Dark Knight which is some good proof I think. Usually when a movie is really successful like The Dark Knight was, it sets up the sequel to be a big success as well and with The Dark Knight Rises doing great with the critics, that should give it about as much money as The Dark Knight or even more.
Spider-Man 3 was a letdown to fans and quite a lot of critics but it still made 336,530,303 dollars because of the success of Spider-Man 2. There was also a poll they did after the shooting and 25 % said they are afraid to go to the movies now.
The Dark Knight made about 29 million more than The Dark Knight Rises in the first 12 days which is a pretty big difference.

The "disadvantage" hasn't affected its longevity considering it was on top of the box office for no less than THREE weekends now! The last chapter in Nolan's Batman trilogy has now led the daily domestic box office for 18 consecutive days!

| Yea it's sad that the shooting had to put a dark cloak over this great movie, but I still think it will be the biggest movie for sure. I agree with the most of you that the shooting really did put a damper on this movie for sure. Still a great movie but I don't think it's better than the last one. |
