Great thread I have seen many bad tornadoes lately in America on the news here, I know the U.S gets alot every year but I've heard this year has been one of the worst to date.
This one has some power ...
I'd like to share some photos too ...
Tornadoes/ twisters are a truly impressive part of nature.
Tornadoes can happen anywhere in the world.
However, due to certain conditions, the Midwestern United States is where they happen most frequently.
In this region, the two major air masses necessary to start a tornado meet, dry cool polar air from Canada and humid warm air from the Gulf of Mexico.
We get them here in New Zealand, but very rarely.
A few weeks back we had one up north where there was a fatal.
The storms here have been horrible. We almost had a tornado form over our house a few days ago. There was 24 tornado warnings in the storm system that hit us but luckily we only got a small part of the storm. It's crazy to think a tornado can blow away the house you grew up in and all the pictures and videos of when you was younger. It can just destroy everything. A tornado hit our house in the 1960's and there's cracks in the walls and ceiling to show it. There hasn't been a tornado ever since.
This is storm damage on our property. It was a short storm but it packed a punch and destroyed our beautiful dogwood tree. My mom said this is the biggest Dogwood tree she has ever seen.
i feel for all you guys that these things happen to....i was watchin one on the news last week that just ripped through a town and destroyed it...
im always complaining about the horrible winters and the ridiculously humid summers where i am...thankfully we dont get tornandos, earthquakes...i dont think i could live somewhere where there was a strong possibility of getting a few tornadoes a year
The tornado that hit Joplin,Missouri on May 23 was a massive tornado they claim it cut a path over 6 miles wide and had winds speeds of 200 + I know what happened in Alabama in April was nuts 20 + tornados on the ground and they damaged a bigger area over all and summer is just getting underway so the tornado outbreaks will continue to come unfortunetly . The weather around the world this year has been crazy and out of control I just hope it slows down some.
