If this has been posted please delete it. TIA...

May look like something out of a Xbox game, but it isnt.

Porsche releses their new line of Spyder series 918.

Porsche 918 Spyder

The mid-mounted 3.4-liter V8 revs to 9,200

500hp+ from the V8

3 electric motors provide another 280hp+

Makes for ~ 800hp and 0-62mph in under 3.2sec

The Nurburgring is estimated to be under 7:30

Weight is under 1400kg, or under 3285lbs

Transmission is a 7speed DSG.

Oh yea and city gas mileage is 78mpg

And yes its a hybrid...

I would still rather have a Tesla Roadster.

0-60 in 3.9 seconds

All electric, but only has a range of 230 miles. Since I don't travel that would be just fine.

They're also releasing the Tesla Model S. It's more of a family car and has a range of 300 miles.

0-60 in 5.6 seconds
Uses any outlet and charges in 45 minutes

I'd be happy with either!

Years ago I had a '69 Valiant with a slant 6 in it. I'd get that POS up to 60 miles an hour, shift it down to 2nd gear and put the accelerator to the floor. The car would slow, chug and then you'd hear a "POOF" and out the back all you could see was a thick blue cloud. I used to this to tailgaters. They'd either back off or race past me! LMAO!

This car is amazing, but you left out one thing: the price. How much is this car?? It's gotta be worth a fortune, and the only people who will have one for a while will be the rich environmentalists.

If it wasn't a hybrid, I'd save up for years and get one of these. But I'm prejudiced against environmentalist cars, and I'm not willing to help the EPA in any way possible.

Its a complete guess its a concept only vehicle only one in the world right now. I'm gonna say it'll probably be around 100k since it's in the sports car category besides it will need a 100k or so price tag to compete with Tesla, Chevy volt the Porsche fans and other line of hybrids out their.

So get to saving now you have 2-3 years on owning one according to the car blogs out their.

I just looked up the expected cost of 35k. It would be nice to see hybrid cars come down in price. I can understand a Porsche being worth 100k, but hiking the price up because it's a "green" car just isn't justifiable. The governments want to see more hybrid or alternate energy cars on the road, but manufacturers are keeping them out of the average joe's hands with high prices.

35k is the price range of the Volt. I think I may have misunderstood your post.

well between 30-40k range. also Canada’s government is supporting GM by giving rebates of $4000 to $10,000 dollars for cars purchased. The US will offer 7500.00.

what i want to know how well will the car stand up to your winters.

Sorry to be so dense Lonny, but we're talking about 4 different cars. My fault for bringing 2 more in to this conversation and I'm not sure which car you're talking about. Wink

I think the Volt would be just fine anywhere in Canada. The 2 electric cars would be fine in BC, AB, and the provinces east of Manitoba. I think the real challenge would be in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. We have brutal cold here during the winter and I don't have a clue how that would impact the batteries. The porsche, I should think, would be OK anywhere as long as it's got a block heater since it still has an internal combustion engine.
