I'm just curious to see if there are any strong opinions on this subject. |

In case anyone asks about what the law is as of present day:
Quote: | As a general rule, for works created after January 1, 1978, copyright protection lasts for the life of the author plus an additional 70 years. |

This sounds like a fair law, so it should remain as it is now.

While some copyright law's do protect computer code which makes games possible.
Copyright for a video game may be held by the individual who created it, unless it falls under open source and creative commons.
http://creativecommons.org/about
Images, music, people and so on inserted into these games are also held by copy right laws as well.
Also one can't just make hats, tee shirt prints with other peoples intellect property of a protected game.
Layers will be at your door real quick.
Gets pricey to make games.
I voted 70's years that's a fair amount of time for any game to run it's course.... _________________ Don't Google it, Just Bing IT!

As it is seems fair enough to me. You shouldn't be allowed to cash in on someone elses ideas and hard work. |

no you shouldn't unless stated.
allot of today's mostly 25 and under group believe it's all for the taken ....
they are disconnected between legal, and social norms and believe it's a RIGHT to take other work. some think well others do it why can't I or Bill Gates has made billions on window$ so I will borrow or take some of his code...
and in the end they wonder what they did wrong.

I believe the way it is suits just fine. I agree with Lonny in regards to people think they have the right to take others works to make a buck. This is wrong and this why the copyrights need to be protected or enforced unless the copyrights holder decides otherwise. _________________
