MOST, if not ALL, of your funds will be completely wasted!
Top 10 Reasons Not to Donate to Wikipedia
or the top 10:
1. Wikimedia Foundation finances are suspect.
2. Wikipedia has too much power.
3. Your donation will indirectly fund Wikia, Inc., which is not a charity.
4. The Wikimedia Foundation's leadership leaves much to be desired.
5. Wikipedia is more a roleplaying game than an encyclopedia.
6. Small donations make Wikipedia irresponsible.
7. They don't get the job done.
8. Wikipedia is a NSFW site lacking child-protection standards.
9. Wikipedia is in a legally precarious position.
10. Wikipedia is unpredictable, inaccurate, and unmanageable.

This isn't about how accurate Wikipedia is! This is about how necessary these annual fundraising drives are!

I know that's not the main focus of your post but you did mention how wikipedia isn't accurate and I won't say they are completely accurate but from my experience it has been very accurate.

I think Wikapedia is pretty accurate and very widely used. The schools in the U.S. as far I know will not allow students to use Wikapedia as their reference or at least here in Ohio the board of education says students may not use or reference Wikapedia as one of their sources of information anyway.
Interesting post Gary always had my concerns about what they did with their donations and had my doubts about it. Thanks for the post.

I saw very good reasons above...but also it is that Dutch people don't pay for things that are free available on the internet... that is also why most of my nationals use Torrent-sites , although one of the most famous, Pirate Bay , doesn't work here in the Netherlands anymore, 'cause of (in Dutch language ) de Stichting Brein ( they are coming up for the financial rights of artists, writers and moviemakers ) has won a trial against Pirate bay, so our Government has taken some actions that Pirate bay doesn't work anymore on the internet here...
( but there are still some other sites which are working properly  |
