The long-awaited prequel of Monsters, Inc has finally arrived and it certainly scared the rest of the competition with an estimated $82 million this weekend!
This marks the 2nd biggest start for a Pixar film and that leaves it behind only Toy Story 3 in that regard! It's the 5th largest opening ever for a film in June before adjusting for inflation. As expected, the target audience for the film was definitely young with 60% under the age of 25.
The only competition that opened this same weekend was World War Z. It earned an estimated $66 million. Brad Pitt must be pleased as this is his best showing ever as it beats the $50.34 million debut of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

What did you think of the new movies opening this weekend? How do you think they performed? _________________

Well, considering that Monsters, Inc was released back in 2001, those who watched it as kids back then may have kids of their own to bring with them now! _________________
