Why do spiders always run where you don't want them to and why do you often have a dry mouth in the mornings? Lol. Indeed, maybe they're not that sinister.
But it is true... if you tap one side although the spider will run to the other, if you then tap the other side to make it run back, or even tap the same side again to make it run further... it won't. It'll just stay put. Spiders are one of the greatest mysteries of the universe. Very clever are they not.
I don't have a favourite, but the Goliath 'Bird Eating' Spider is one of the most fascinating. They jump from tree branches and occasionally eat birds, although not as regularly as their name suggests.

They measure 12 inches or one foot across. They also have tiny hairs which they eject out with a poisonous irritant to fend off enemies.

Nice topic Knight.
I love spiders. I found this little one in my garden this past summer. I sent her picture (I know she's a she because later in the summer she had an encased egg on the same leaf) to a couple different websites to try to identify her but had no luck. I just called her the alien spider because of the markings on her abdomen. Pretty cool though.
Also on the same rose bush 2 years earlier I found this Goldenrod Spider. She adjusts the stripes on her back to coordinate with the flowers she lives around. (Leave it to a female to make sure she is coordinated! )
Spiders are just so darn cool!!! |

I hate spiders! If it's small enough I step on it. If it's big enough Miss Priss kills it for me. _________________ Joe.Boxer |

spiders kind of freak me out...although i do think they are pretty amazing to watch....we had one this summer, that went from one end of the deck to the other building a new web once a week...me and my daughter would throw ants in the web everyday for it _________________

I have a friend who loves spiders. He had a garden spider years ago he used to feed. It was fed other spiders, ants and grasshoppers. This thing was huge! _________________ Joe.Boxer |

Correction! Size doesn't matter, he runs away and I have to get rid of it everytime. Since when have you ever touched a spider. |

Weird, I can't find anything on the pic I posted of the "Golf Spider", it's like it's been erased lol. I'm almost positive it's just a Nursery Web Spider. I can't even remember where I got the name Golf Spider from either, but I can see how I came up with the nickname.
Here is possibly one of the coolest looking spiders I've seen. It's called a "Peacock Spider" respectively............
