thanks lonny for the update, i guess i was right to worry about the power-plant situation. I relaly do think it will get alot worse!
I hope it doesnt buy i have a feeling people will die from this, not just the tsunami but i mean the radiation and o believe a meltdown will occur
I hope not, but i just have this gut feeling about it.
I've been following the news and blogs on this. It is going from bad to worse, currently all staff has been evacuated from Fukushima plant, and now I saw a report that helicopters that needed to pour water over reactor had to turn back due to high level of radiation.
With Tokyo only 150 miles away, we could be facing a nightmare scenario that one of the worlds biggest cities will become polluted. And 30-50 million people will have to stay and suffer or go - but where?
MOX is the kind of recycled nuclear fuel that has been used in this plant for only 6 months. It is unstable and much more radioactive than usual. It seems that it has created this situation much worse, and only a few news stations have mentioned that.
One things for certain something is going on here that is not being discussed.
Thank you for the update! I agree; we aren't getting the whole truth but I wonder if we'll ever know the truth according to mladen's article from Greg Palast.
we wont know the the whole truth until something more serve happens.
i think its wrong for the media to hide the truth but it's done to keep the peace and calm among the people.
We know better.
doesn't matter what channel I watch were getting conflicting reports on the matter. when i have time i been looking online for the news like the report below.

How severe does it have to get before we see the whole truth though?
Speaking of conflicting reports, here is a more recent example of it here:
its just crazy crazy how everyday, it seems to get worse and worse over there...i dont know what it is about the 11th but it seems to be a bad luck day...Sept. 11 (NY) Jan 11 (Haiti) March 11 (Japan)
Just saw this video, this is very very bad. This guy is an expert, who was investigating Chernobyl and Three Mile Island accidents. He used term "Chernobyl on Steroids".

Well, now I don't know what to think! Do you believe people in California now have good reasons to buy those potassium iodide pills and Geiger counters?
I am not sure, and I am not an expert, but it started to look really bad.
US govt should (and usually does) it's best to protect it's citizens. Hawaii is closer to Japan (it is a part of US), so people there should get those pills first if necessary. USA is a nuclear power, and should have stockpile of all measures to prevent harmful radiation of it's citizens.
It is important to keep all food we eat free of radiation, and it is government's job to insure that. Should individuals have Geiger counters? If you feel you will need it, you should be free to get it.
there is a nuclear plant in new hampshire, which is about35-45 minutes from me...people have been saying fro ever that if something ever happened there we would feel the effects here...still not sure if its true
The closer you are the greater the danger, but that is only in case of major accident, and Japan is facing potentially the biggest nuclear accident ever. I hope I am wrong about that. There are many power plants all over the world:
But the problem is when some of them have design and safety issues that are not addressed because solving them would cost $$. Really annoying.
