A few years ago a team led by scientists at Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering demonstrated the first working "invisibility cloak." The cloak deflects microwave beams so they flow around a "hidden" object inside with little distortion, making it appear almost as if nothing were there at all.
Basically, the metamaterial acts as a smooth surface which makes light flow around an object in the same way that water flows around a pebble in a stream.
As light travels around the object (like water) it arrives at the other side of the object, causing the eye to see a continuation of an image from in front and behind the object... as if it were not there.
Now scientists are fine tuning this technology and is one such technology being showcased by the British MOD.
The image of the tank (above) is an artist's impression of how a cloaked object will appear when using this technology.

That is freakin' AWESOME! Where'd you get the pic? _________________ -2nd Person to Join
